| The station was built on the edge of the village of
Evercreech when the line to Bath was opened in 1874.
A small number of sidings were situated to the north of the station to deal
with various good, including milk and lime. There was also a stone built
goods shed and a travelling crane. On the up platform was a twenty lever signal box that controlled the goods yard and approaching lines from Evercreech Junction to the south and Shepton Mallet to the north. This box burnt down in October 1918, and a temporary ground frame was installed until the new box was completed in January 1920. |
