Station opened - 9th July 1928
Station closed - 17th September 1956
Grid Ref: 194 ST 860091
| This simple halt consisted of a short single concrete
platform with a small waiting shelter. Built to serve the local villages of
Stourpaine and Durweston. The halt had a very short 28 year life span, closing in September of 1956. Just half a mile to the north of the station towards Shillingstone, there was a short crossing loop, this being signalled in both directions by a 15 lever signal box. This box closed on the 18th of December 1951 when the loop was taken out of use and finally removed Incidentally, the old concrete station name sign has been preserved and mounted in the children's play area adjacent to Durweston First School. |
